I keep going back and forth about whether to compete in the GDS2. It’s going to take some time to write 2,500-3,500 words in addition to my regularly scheduled schoolwork, but I figure I can knock it out relatively quickly and still create a quality product. I haven’t really been putting much thought into designing a world because I have to pass the testing stage first; I do have a few ideas I’ve been tossing around, and I would definitely welcome any input (in addition to what’s already available on the Wiki page). I’ll probably be wired enough by Tuesday night to expend significant energies on the contest.
The time to figure out my post-graduate plans is hastily approaching. Reverting to the single life has called for a few audibles; truthfully, I now have more options to weigh against one another. Ultimately, I want to hit the mission field ASAP, but since I’m looking at $30,000+ in student loans, that might not happen for a year or five or ten. I’d love to be in vocational ministry at every stage of my life. I know that this doesn’t exactly translate to an exorbitant salary, but as we all know, we don’t do it for the dollars and cents. Some people in whom I place my trust have been advising me to search for a high-paying secular job so I can head overseas sooner… I’ve never really considered that option until recently, but it just might have some sense to it.
That said, a six-month paid internship with Wizards would undoubtedly be a great start to a ballin’ life. Pick me, MaRo, pick me!
